Weather

Weather is measured by thousands of weather stations across the world.

An ASOS weather station (Automated Surface Observing System) measures temperature, precipitation, dew point temperature, wind speed, wind direction, cloud conditions, and more. There are more than 900 ASOS weather stations across the U.S. and territories. 

Cooperative (COOP) observing weather stations are often managed by volunteers, minimally reporting 24-hour temperature and precipitation (maximum and minimum temperature and total 24-hour precipitation). There are up to 10,000 cooperative observing stations operating across the U.S. and territories.
